Pop icon Kesha has ventured into the tech world by founding a new startup called Smash, aiming to revolutionize the music industry by providing a community-based platform for music creators. Announced on May 23, 2025, Smash is designed to connect and protect artists, allowing them to collaborate, hire each other, and retain full rights to their creations.
The platform is envisioned as a hybrid between LinkedIn and Fiverr for music professionals, emphasizing the elimination of gatekeeping and prioritizing artists’ rights. Kesha’s initiative aligns with her ongoing efforts to support creative independence, following the launch of her own record label, Kesha Records, last year.
To bring this vision to life, Kesha has partnered with CTO Alan Cannistraro, a seasoned tech expert with experience at Apple and Facebook. Cannistraro’s background includes developing some of the first iOS apps and creating Facebook’s Year-In-Review feature.
Smash represents Kesha’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for music creators, ensuring they have the tools and community to thrive without compromising their artistic rights.
